About Alexander Dergunov, DOMP

I've spent most of my working life helping people relax and feel better with my hands. Osteopathy is simply the next, more skilled step on that same road.

Many years of hands-on practice

For years I worked in wellness and spa settings around the Ottawa area — creating treatments, training therapists, and giving thousands of hours of hands-on bodywork myself: sauna rituals, relaxation and therapeutic massage. Along the way I learned to feel where a body holds its tension, and how to help it let go.

From spa practice to osteopathy

Clients kept telling me my hands seemed to find the problem before they finished describing it — so I decided to train properly. In 2025 I completed my Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice at the London College of Osteopathy and Health Sciences, and now work as an osteopathic manual practitioner.

My background

My first training was as a mechanical engineer, which gives me a practical, structural way of looking at the body: everything is connected, and the sore spot is often not the real cause. Add many years of hands-on spa and massage practice and a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice, and that's how I work today — calm, careful, and gentle.

What you can expect

Gentle techniques only — no cracking, no thrusts (the full list is public). Honesty about what I am: an osteopathic manual practitioner, not a doctor and not an RMT. And honesty about what I'm not trained to treat: I work with adults, with everyday tension and stiffness — and when something needs medical care, I'll tell you and help you find the right professional.
