Insurance — how coverage works, in plain words
Osteopathic treatments are covered by many extended health plans. Massage sessions are not — I'm an osteopathic manual practitioner, not a Registered Massage Therapist, and I'd rather tell you up front. Here's exactly how to check and claim.
Step by step
1 — Check your plan (2 minutes). Call your insurer or open your benefits portal and ask one question: "Does my plan cover osteopathy / osteopathic treatment by an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (DOMP)?" Note your yearly maximum and per-visit limit.
2 — Book and enjoy your session. Nothing extra needed from you — the assessment and paperwork are on my side.
3 — Get your receipt. Issued as Osteopathic Treatment — Alexander Dergunov, DOMP, Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, with everything insurers ask for.
4 — Submit the claim. Most insurers accept a photo of the receipt in their app; reimbursement typically lands within days.
Honest notes
A receipt makes a claim possible, but it does not guarantee reimbursement — coverage varies plan to plan, so please check with your insurance company in advance. Relaxation and other massage sessions are not covered and I never disguise them as treatment.
