The office body: gentle help for desk-and-posture tension

Eight hours at a screen leaves a signature: forward head, rounded shoulders, a stiff neck, a tired lower back, a knot between the shoulder blades. None of it is a disease — it's your body adapting to a chair. Gentle, whole-body work helps unwind the pattern.

Common causes

Is this something I can help with?

Honesty first. Gentle hands-on work is wonderful for everyday, muscular tension — and wrong for anything that needs a doctor. Here's the plain line between the two.

✔ I can usually help if…

  • General stiffness and tension from long desk days
  • Several mild areas at once — neck, shoulders, back
  • Tension that eases on weekends and holidays
  • Wanting a whole-body reset, not one single spot

➜ Please see a doctor first if…

  • Numbness, tingling or weakness in an arm, hand or leg
  • Pain radiating down a limb
  • Pain following an injury or accident
  • Steadily worsening symptoms unrelated to activity
  • Any neurological change (grip, balance, coordination)

If any of these apply, this isn't the right treatment — and I'll gladly help point you toward the right professional.

What I do to help

In a session I combine gentle techniques, choosing the mix for your body — nothing forceful, no cracking:

Soft-tissue & myofascial release — slow, massage-like work to unwind tight muscle and fascia.

Comfort-controlled focused pressure — targeted trigger-point work, always within your comfort.

Rhythmic / oscillation techniques — gentle rocking that calms the tissue and the nervous system.

Light-touch cranial work — very soft holds around the head and neck.
