How I work: gentle osteopathy techniques, in plain words
Most fear of manual therapy comes from one image: the sudden crack. So let's start with the boundary, not the menu: No cracking. No sudden thrusts. No forcing joints. Adults only. And if your condition needs medical care, I will tell you and refer you. Everything below is the soft, low-force branch of osteopathy — chosen because it's safe, comfortable and effective for everyday bodies.
The techniques
Soft-tissue & myofascial release. Slow, massage-like work on muscles and the fascia that wraps them — the closest to what you already know, and the foundation of every session.
Muscle Energy Technique (MET). You gently push against my resistance; I guide the direction. Your own muscles do the realigning — no outside force.
Strain–Counterstrain (positional release). We find the position where a painful point switches off and let the body reset there. It feels like doing nothing; it works like physiology.
Balanced Ligamentous Tension. Micro-adjustments through the ligaments that hold your joints — subtle, precise, within the tissue's own slack.
Gentle articulation and traction. Slow rhythmic movement of a joint through its comfortable range, with soft lengthening. Oiling a hinge by moving it patiently — never striking it.
Rhythmic and oscillation techniques. Gentle rocking that calms the nervous system; guarded tension lets go on its own.
Comfort-controlled focused pressure. Trigger-point work with one rule: you set the ceiling. Defended tissue never releases.
Light-touch cranial work. Optional and quiet — very light holds around the head and neck. Usually the deepest relaxation of the session.
Heat-assisted preparation (optional). Where the room allows it, gentle heat before hands-on work — a habit from twenty years in sauna culture. Warm tissue is soft tissue.
Why gentle wins
The massage opens the body. The osteopathy walks through. Force creates defense; defense blocks release. A body that feels safe lets go of tension it has guarded for years. That's not a philosophy — it's how muscle tone and the nervous system behave. It's also why my sessions suit people who would never let anyone "crack" them.
