Osteopathic Massage — the massage you know, with a wider goal

Osteopathic massage in Britannia, Ottawa — gentle hands-on treatment

Massage is, in a sense, a particular case of osteopathic treatment. Most of what I do with my hands is exactly what you would recognise as massage — traditional soft-tissue work, kneading, gentle stretching and warming. What changes under the osteopathic umbrella is the scope: instead of working only where it hurts, I read the whole body as one connected system and treat what is actually causing the tension, which is often somewhere else entirely.

Familiar techniques, broader intent

The bulk of a session is soft, low-force and massage-like: soft-tissue and myofascial release, gentle stretching, muscle-energy technique, positional release and slow rhythmic work. No cracking, no sudden thrusts. If it helps to picture it — the massage opens the body, and the osteopathy walks through.

Never a fixed menu — chosen after your assessment

This is the important part: I don't offer a technique "off a list". Every session opens with a short assessment, and from what I find we choose and agree the specific techniques and tools together before we begin — more soft-tissue here, some stretching there, a warm-oil or hot-stone element where it serves you. The plan is built around your body on the day, not a menu.

Good to know: because this is osteopathic treatment, it's eligible for reimbursement under many extended-health plans, with a DOMP receipt. Choose this if you'd like the ease of a massage and lasting work on the cause.

With gratitude

Grateful for the clients who made this work a joy

These kind words come from clients I looked after at my Ottawa-area spas over the years. The setting has changed — the same care, and the same hands, continue here at ALX Osteopathy.
